Okay, point-blank, every woman should own a jumpsuit period! I’m still asking myself why I’m writing about this now. {Confused Emoji face}. Jumpsuits are a must have, its kinda like wearing a dress, all you need is a great pair of heels and a bag/clutch and you are ready to go. It works for all times/seasons, layer it with a polo or a nice button down shirt for a formal/office look, add a light cape over the top for event look of as it is with a necklace/choker for a date night.

As a stylist, I’m always emphasizing the importance of strong wardrobe staples that can transition a look from day to night, weekday to weekend and season to season. This jumpsuit fits the bill for several reasons…it’s a neutral (year round color), a perfect base for layering, and a durable material that’s super comfortable. Plus, it came with a cheap price tag so you know this “frugal fashionista” was all over it!

Jumpsuits are everywhere right now and have become a new fashion statement these days. If you may ask why, the reason is quite simple. Jumpsuits are causal, comfortable and stylish alternatives to mini dresses and skirts. The next time you are stuck between choosing between dresses, think otherwise and choose a jumpsuit instead. Pieces like jumpsuits and dresses are meant to be easy ‘chuck on’ items for when you’re uninspired or also late.. we’ve all been there darling! but hey, they can be a little intimidating if you’ve never worn one before. Don’t be nervous! They may be inspired by men’s coveralls, but they are totally feminine and sophisticated in the right cuts and with the right styling. Let me show you how its done with these 4 easy stylish ways — it’s way easier to pull off than you think.

Look 1 – Formal/Office

I wore it with a white lacoste t-shirt underneath for a more professional look

Look 2 – date night/day

Naturally you can wear the jumpsuit as it is right? So that’s definitely what I did. Just added a neclace and I ‘m good to go.

Look 3 – Event/church

For the 3rd look, I wore the jumpsuit as I would a pair of pants and pulled on a white lace cape. If i didn’t tell you, you wouldn’t know that I was wearing a full jumpsuit under the cape right?

Look 4 – Event/church

4th look is very very similar to look 3, I just changed the lace cape for a chiffon mixed with ntoma (African print) cape.

Keep these two tips in mind – Finding a perfectly draped jumpsuit is gold. It’s not just because I’m modest (OK most times), but loose jumpsuits that drape your figure are more flattering than skin tight jumpsuits.

Also, If you’re wearing a wide leg jumpsuit like I am, you need to wear heels. Wide leg jumpsuits can overpower a small frame so make sure you’re pairing it with heels. Wearing heels is a style rule I follow because I have a petite frame, and I don’t want to look even shorter than I already am. I want to create the illusion that I’m super tall (yeah right). If I were to wear this wide leg jumpsuit with sandals or flats, the bottom half would look pretty sloppy. It would look like I’m wearing a jumpsuit that doesn’t fit, and I would look shorter. Always remember, heels will add height to a person with a petite frame and make a taller woman look leaner.
